Case Circumstances
A cab driver, Daniel Dutton left his parents' home in Long Beach, MS the night of July 8, 2000. He left a note saying he would be gone for a few days. His cab was found abandoned in a Lake City, FL Days Inn parking lot on July 13, 2000. Daniel was not listed as a guest at the hotel. No blood or fingerprint evidence was found in the cab. However, some receipts, a bent golf club, Daniel's checkbook, his eyeglasses, and half a roll of duct tape were recovered. A recovered receipt dated July 9, 2000 was from an Econolodge in Gainesville, FL, and Daniel is believed to be the person who rented the room, as his signature appeared to match that on the receipt provided by the hotel. It is unknown if Daniel was accompanied or alone.
Additional Information: He was working as a cab driver for the Yellow Cab Company in Biloxi, Mississippi at the time of his disappearance. His last fare was to an address in Gulfport, Mississippi around 8:50 p.m. Dutton's father saw him after his shift at their home at 11:00 p.m. The next morning Dutton was gone. He left a note saying he was leaving for a few days. His father reported him missing on July 17th. He has never been seen or heard from since. Receipts in the cab showed that Dutton purchased a backpack, toothbrush, and toothpaste the day he disappeared. Dutton had overdrawn his bank account prior to vanishing and maxed out a credit card for up to $10,000. A .22 caliber firearm that his father had purchased for him also disappeared with him.
