The Mississippi Repository for Missing and Unidentified Persons is a statewide database and collaborative tool used to help identify and resolve Mississippi’s cases of missing and unidentified persons. Below, we have listed select resources in addition to outreach and training opportunities to assist families through the disappearance of a loved one and engage individuals who are interested in raising awareness of missingness themselves and within their communities.

Outreach and Training Opportunities

The Cobb Institute of Archaeology conducts training workshops for law enforcement and other investigative professionals. These workshops educate attendees on methods utilized by Forensic Anthropologists and Forensic Archaeologists. Topics include forensic recovery methods such as Ground Penetrating Radar, Surface Collection of Human Remains, and Excavation of Clandestine Burials, as well as analytical methods such as how to determine if bones are Human vs. Faunal in origin. Our workshops are certified by the International Association of Identification, and attendees are awarded CE credits towards Crime Scene Investigation certification. Our instructors are experienced forensic practitioners with extensive backgrounds in forensic recovery, forensic analysis, human anatomy, archaeological methods, and the teaching of these skills to others.
