Case Circumstances
He was last seen in Starkville, Oktibbeha Co. Mississippi. His sister reported that he came by her residence on 1/1/1969, when their mother brought him by there to catch a ride with one of his friends. This was the last known sighting of John Lloyd "Buddy" Heflin.
Additional Information: He was living in Jackson, Mississippi, and working at Kroger at the time. It is believed that Heflin may have been the getaway driver for a crime and it was known that he was involved in illegal activity with a man in Longview, Mississippi. Prior to his disappearance, Heflin's friend gave him a ride to a man's house. Heflin got out of the vehicle and went into the house to speak with the man. Heflin's friend could hear the men in a verbal altercation. Heflin then returned to the vehicle and was crying. He stated that he could not tell his friend what was going on because it would put his life in danger. The friend urged Heflin to go to the police but Heflin refused, stating that the man had threatened to kill his family.
