Taylor left his mother's house on July 13th, 2020, and told her he would see her later. Later on that day, Taylor was seen at the Plaza Motel on The Island. Sometime in the early morning hours between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. on July 14th, Taylor spoke with his older brother. This was the last known communication with Taylor prior to his disappearance. He was last seen driving a silver 2011 Ford Fiesta with Mississippi tag LTE 7723. Taylor has not been seen or heard from since.

In May 2021, Joseph Purcell, Alan Farley, Deborah Johnston, and Javaris Johnson were arrested in connection to the murder of Taylor. Despite several searches by law enforcement, search and recovery teams, and volunteers, neither Taylor nor his vehicle has been recovered at this time.
