Nelson was last seen at her home in the Golf Course Road area of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, on November 11th, 2016. After a couple of weeks with no contact, a family member contacted the Hattiesburg Police Department to conduct a welfare check on Nelson. She was not at her residence at the time of their arrival and it was unclear how she may have left her home as her vehicle, purse, and keys were still in the home. At the time of her disappearance, Nelson's son was living with her. In early December, the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation issued a Silver Alert for Nelson as the family states she has a medical condition that may impair her judgment. A large search in the area of her home was conducted by Mississippi Homeland Task Force 3 and the Hattiesburg Police Department; however, no sign of Nelson was found. Hattiesburg Police said that they were investigating her disappearance as a possible crime though there was no evidence found to support that at the time. Nelson’s case is unsolved and she remains missing at this time.
